WATCH: Crowds demonstrate for Dillon Puckree outside Stanger court

Members of the community have come out in numbers to demonstrate against the three men accused of murdering Dillon Puckree.

The hearing for the third accused, a minor, has been postponed until tomorrow (Friday).

1.30pm update

According to KwaDukuza Community Police Forum chairperson Clinton Gumede, two of the accused were opposed bail. They will be held at Umhlali SAPS and KwaDukuza SAPS respectively until their next appearance on September 21. A hearing for the third accused, a minor, will take place this afternoon.

10.45am update

The accused are yet to appear in court. KwaDukuza Community Police Forum chairperson Clinton Gumede talks about the case and importance of the demonstration.


9.45am update

The demonstration has resulted in the closure of King Shaka Street and all businesses in that road for the time being.

More than a hundred people have gathered outside the KwaDukuza magistrates court this morning with placards at the ready as they demand justice after the alleged murder of 24-year-old Glenhills resident, Dillon Puckree.

Three men aged 17, 22 and 24 were arrested on Tuesday and will appear in court this morning.

The KwaDukuza Community Police Forum submitted an objection to bail and two of the accused were subsequently denied bail.

Puckree died in hospital after receiving serious injuries in a fight with a group of men in Stanger Manor just after midnight last Friday September 8.
