ATM bombing foiled in Stanger

One of the men who was arrested in KwaDukuza after they were found with an explosive device.

Two men were arrested when they were found in possession of an explosive device at Stanger’s Market Plaza on Sunday.

It is suspected that these men were planning to bomb an automatic teller machine.

Ilembe’s SAPS cluster spokesperson, Johaness Khoza said one of the men was found carrying the device known as a ‘Schock tube assembly’, an explosive used to blast rocks in the mines.

The Schock Tube Assembly expolosive that is thought to have been intended for the bombing of an ATM.

They allegedly bought the device in Rustenburg.

“These men were arrested after a tip off on Friday and a subsequent police stake out.”

He thanked the community for reporting the matter and encouraged others to do the same, saying that criminals could only be brought to book through collaboration.
