Entrepreneur competition takes flight

The Ilembe Chamber of Commerce‘s Entrepreneur 2017 Competition is in full flight with the finalists already learning how to take their businesses to new heights.

This fourth session of the Chamber’s entrepreneur progamme was facilitated by marketing and communications expert Chris Voysey.

In focusing on customer relationships and distribution channels, Voysey emphasized that at times a positive relationship created with customers may be the only advantage a business can have over their competitors.

The finalists were full of praise for the many tools they have been given to help them in their businesses.

Judging will take place on October 26 and 27 with the final exhibition and announcement of the winners happening on October 27.

The Entrepreneur programme, which is supported by the University of KZN and USA-based Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), uses Alexander Osterwalder’s Business Model Canvas as a business interrogation tool.

The 2017 programme will run over 12 weeks during which competition finalists will be exposed to intensive business modelling through tuition and practical application.

“All the finalists have been grateful for the opportunity to be with other like-minded business owners and to receive advice from mentors with invaluable business experience,” said the Chamber’s Sakhile Khumalo.

The competition boasts a diverse group of businesses in various industries from all over the iLembe District. For continuous updates on the competition please see the Ilembe Chamber’s Facebook page.
