Earlier this afternoon two other suspects were killed after the five-man gang, driving a white Mercedes-Benz, tried to ram officers off the freeway.

At the time police made their first arrest.

The incident unfolded just before the Queen Nandi Drive off-ramp when the police car and the Mercedes-Benz careened off the roadway, down the median, before colliding with a civilian vehicle driving southbound.

The driver, a woman in her 60s sustained moderate injuries.

She was cut free with the Jaws of Life used by members of Rescue Care and Crisis Medical.

The men are  believed to be part of cash-in-transit syndicate. The Mercedez-Benz was stolen from Reservoir Hills earlier this month.
