The suspects attempted to ram the police off the road resulting in the police and the suspects’ vehicles crossing the median before colliding with another vehicle.

The incident has caused chaos on the roads.

The N2 southbound between the KwaMashu on-ramp and Queen Nandi Drive off-ramp remains closed and traffic is being redirected.

It is now believed the N2 northbound has also been affected.

“Both vehicles careened off the roadway, down the median, before colliding with a civilian vehicle driving southbound.

“The driver, a woman in her 60s sustained moderate injuries. She was cut free with the Jaws of Life used by members of Rescue Care and Crisis Medical.

“Two suspects were killed, while a third has been arrested. The SAPS K9 Unit as well as the Air Wing Unit are still searching for the three remaining suspects, who are still at large,” he said.
