Six armed men held up the iBar at the Ballito Lifestyle Centre before making off with their loot.

The robbery took place at around 10am today.

iBar manager Pravin Ramlall said the six men assaulted two of the sales staff before fleeing with many store items.

“The staff reported seeing a Silver Mercedes parked outside the store.

“Six armed men got out of the car and made their way into the store.

“Luckily there were no customers in the store at the time.

“Two of our staff were assaulted by the men but thankfully they are not badly injured.

“They will receive trauma counselling.”

Ramlall said the store would be closed for the day and he planned to do an inventory count tomorrow to find exactly what was stolen.

Lifestyle Centre marketing manager Tessa Woodley said the centre security guards were able to get a photo of the car’s registration that was involved in the robbery.

“Our guards are on high alert.

“This is not something that you would expect to happen in broad daylight but we are thankful that no one was badly hurt.”
