Churches in Ballito

Whether you’re looking to join a young, modern and vibrant church, or you’re drawn to the more traditional setting, Ballito is home to an array of churches that welcome all new members with open arms.

If you’re on the hunt for a dynamic church motivating people of all ages, races and walks of life with inspirational and practical biblical teaching, then Rivers is the church for you.

The Christ-centred church preaches the truth about Jesus in a fresh, illustrative and creative way.

In an effort to reach out to the community, they aim to impact and embrace people through their services, television programme, foundation to the poor and community relationships.

As a result, they are a fast-growing church on multiple campuses that started with 70 people and currently exceeds 15 000.

Since 1992, André and Wilma Olivier have been the senior pastors of Rivers.

They have grown the church from just 70 people into a church of thousands and are responsible for the vision, values and culture of the multi-campus church.

Weekend services

Based at 6 Gourly Road, Ballito, services begin at 8am and 10am sharp, and include dynamic praise and worship with a life-changing message across all campuses.

Kidszone children’s church offers an action-packed ministry programme during all services for children aged one to Grade six in a safe, secure and loving environment.

It is important to note that all services and events start on time. Punctuality is a key value at Rivers contributing to a spirit of excellence.

For the safety and security of all children and families, the campus gates are closed and Kidszone cannot accept latecomers 15 minutes into the start of all services.

Communion is held on one weekend every month, during all the services.

Known as a strong apostolic and prophetic company of people Groundbreakers is a territorial governing church ready to take back cities and nations for God.

“We believe that the prerogative of the church is to form Christ in the lives of the saints until they arise in the earth as sons of God.”

Nel and Michelle Sewraj began to mobilize a company of apostolic and prophetic people from the year 2000.

The name Groundbreakers was only birthed in 2004 out of a prophetic decree.

In the decade that followed, and after countless trainings processes, Groundbreakers produced a strong company of people – a real force to be reckoned with.

Groundbreakers is a representative and affiliate of ISAAC (International Strategic Alliance of Apostolic Churches).

ISAAC is a network of governing churches and ministries across the nations under the presiding apostleship of Dr Jonathan David.

Grace Family Church Ballito

Founded 25 years ago by Mark and Christine van Straaten in Durban North, Grace Family Church is on a mission to reach the lost, grow the found, and to engage in missions and justice work.

Nestled on wide open lawns, Grace Ballito is bordered by a natural forest.

Tasty coffees are available before and after services and secure parking is plentiful.

Whether you meet in Ballito, Umhlanga or Riverside at Grace you can “come as you are.”

The style is relaxed and contemporary, drawing people from all walks of life.

Headed by Pastor DJ Ewan, services begin at 9am sharp.

A cry room is available for parents with infants.

Sunday school

Grace Kids runs every Sunday during our 9am service. All children are signed in and out of Grace Kids on a Sunday by their parents and are allocated a unique number.

In the event that a parent needs to be contacted during a service, your child’s number will appear on the screen in the main auditorium. For parents of infants 0-12 months, our auditorium is equipped with a Parents Room with a glass window so parents can see and hear the service. Otherwise, check out what’s available for every age up to Grade 6.

Creche 1-3 years

This facility is staffed by dedicated volunteers, who will care for your little one with their safety being our priority.

Pre-Primary: Gr 00-R

Our preschoolers enjoy a structured time of worship and story time followed by a fun activity to reinforce what they have learned. The focus in this age group is ‘God made me, God loves me, and Jesus whats to be my friend forever.’

Primary: Gr 1-6

Our primary school children get together for high-energy, action-packed worship and creative, relevant teaching time. This is followed by age-appropriate small group time that reinforces the lesson led by our amazing Grace Kids volunteers.

God in the Moveis

Sundays, 5-12 February

‘God in the Movies’ our much anticipated, yearly teaching series, searches for God’s truth in the contemporary movies of today’s culture. It’s the perfect time to invite someone to church with you, especially if they are a movie-buff.
