A magic carpet ride at Ashton

The final curtain came down on an enchanting show, which took 2530 people on a magic carpet ride to Agrabah last week.

Ashton’s Senior College production of Aladdin saw four sold out performances topped with standing ovations and cheers for an encore.

Senior College head Jenny van Buuren said she was immensely proud of everyone who was part of Aladdin.

Aladdin played by Alistair Wadsworth with his beautiful Princess Jasmine played by Tipanga Badenhorst.

“I am so proud of every member of the cast, the students in the lead roles, the back stage crew, sound and lighting and orchestra – and most of all Mrs Tara Blake. Wow! What an amazing show,” said van Buuren.

“This was a celebration of our students’ God given talents and this is Ashton’s spirit at its best. We thank our Lord for this wonderful and dedicated team of teachers, students and parents.

“The hours and hours of rehearsals and family time that was sacrificed all paid off – each student was given the opportunity to perform to their natural strengths with confidence.”

The performance was not only a feast for the eyes with the beautiful colours of the costumes and the set, but also a musical treat.
