New record for Protec

There was great jubilation among the Protec matric class of 2017, who broke a new record achieving a 100% bachelor pass rate.

The class of 36 pupils obtained a total of 72 subject distinctions with nine distinctions in math, 4 in physical science and eight in English. The top student, Nosipho Ndlovu, achieved six distinctions for maths, physical science, life science, isiZulu, English and life orientation.

Other star pupils, Nondumiso Biyela, Kwasa Makhanya, Nosihle Ntshangase and Ntenhle Zulu, all obtained five distinctions.

Kwasa Makhanya was the top physical science pupil in the Ilembe district and was recognised for this remarkable achievement at the KZN awards ceremony at the ICC.

The top math pupils, Siyabonga Dube and Mzokuthula Zulu achieved 93% and 90% respectively.

Ndlovu, who is from Bhamshela in Upper Tongaat, praised Protec for the assistance she was getting.

“It helped me to gain confidence and I was able to push myself to the best of my ability,” said the Nondanga Secondary matriculate.

She wants to study medicine at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. However, she still waiting to get a bursary.

“We are extremely proud of our students who worked consistently hard throughout the year and the most important thing about these results is that they enable our learners to pursue meaningful careers,” said Protec Tongaat manager Marion Takis.

She thanked all their sponsors for enabling them to make a difference to the pupils.
