Car theft a huge problem in KwaDukuza

According to SAPS cluster spokesperson constable Sibusiso Khuzwayo, old models seemed to be a target.

It is thought that old vehicles do not have tracking devices or alarms. He urged the public to report any of these criminal acts.

“We recently arrested three people for theft of motor vehicle and a vehicle was recovered at Maphumulo. It had been totally stripped.

“We plead with the public to lock their garages or gates because these thieves can even steal a car with no battery.”

He praised the impact of the Neighbourhood Watch, community WhatsApp groups, said it helps to keep residents aware of any suspicious activity.

You can anonymously report car theft related crimes on 082 376 3207, ask for colonel Ngobese.
