The young talent on show at the Footy African Bank soccer development programme gave spectators plenty to cheer for as the children played their hearts out for victory on August 20, 27 and 28.

Footy hosted the three day tournament for the 25 under-privileged primary schools taking part at Stanger recreational grounds and the Stanger Country Club. It was a seven a side tournament for boys U 10, U 12 and U 14 (the girls U 14 tournament was postponed due to wet fields on August 28).

Stanger Primary School bagged the U 10 prize, followed by Mbozamo Primary School in second, RA Padayachee Primary School in third and Mavivane Primary School fourth.

The U 11’s at Enkukwini Primary School were not to be beaten, with Melville Primary School taking second, Dawnview Primary School in third and Mavivane Primary School fourth.

Competition was fierce for the U 14 prize, which was taken by New Guilderland Primary School, with Sizani Primary School in second place, Melville Primary School in third and KwaDukuza Primary in fourth.

The top four teams from each age group qualified for a Best of the Best tournament to be held at Footy Ballito on Saturday September 3, from 9am to 2pm.

Footy African Bank squads will be selected after the Best of the Best who will train together and take on Amazulu FC and Build-It juniors in October at Footy (dates to be confirmed).
