Tongaat pupils hold teachers hostage

Siphiwe High School pupils are running riot.
Rejecting the appointment of the new school principal, and demanding a new maths teacher, pupils are vandalising their school, in the Umthombisa area, Upper Tongaat, according to police.
They have locked-up the teachers and broken the windows in protest.
“There was a parents’ meeting yesterday and we thought the problem was solved, however we received a call from the school saying that pupils have locked their teachers inside the school premises,” said Umhlali SAPS communications officer, warrant officer Vinny Pillay.
He said the problem started yesterday, when pupils downed their pens and broke the schools windows.
